Maltese players from Alpha Table Tennis Klabb have returned from the Scottish Parkinson’s International Open, held in Largs, Scotland, on 15 and 16 August 2026, after a successful weekend of international competition, friendship and shared experiences.

Team Malta players at the Scottish Parkinson’s International Open

The Alpha TTK players Anna Tabone and Adrian Casha competed in the singles and doubles events, achieving two notable podium finishes for Malta: In the Mixed Doubles Class 2, Anna and Adrian secured the bronze medal, while Anna added a second medal to her successful tournament by partnering Anita Schultz of Germany to win silver in the Ladies Doubles Class 2. The Maltese participants were accompanied by coach Katia Mifsud, who supported the players throughout the two-day international event.

While the medals represent an important sporting achievement, events such as the Scottish Parkinson’s International Open extend well beyond competition. Table tennis is increasingly recognised as an accessible and engaging form of physical activity for people living with Parkinson’s, helping participants remain active while challenging balance, coordination, movement and reaction. Just as importantly, international events provide opportunities for players to meet others living with Parkinson’s, develop friendships and share experiences in a supportive environment.

Alpha TTK continues to promote table tennis as a means of encouraging physical activity, social connection and improved wellbeing for people living with Parkinson’s. Alpha TTK congratulates all the Maltese participants on their performances and, above all, on representing Malta and the club with enthusiasm and determination throughout the event.
