The Table Tennis FUNdamentals class is specifically for children aged under 8. At this age, most children will not be tall enough to sustain a full training session at the table. Therefore, the kids’ fundamental sessions are aimed at:
- developing racket control and dexterity so that the child feels confident with handling the ball and racket
- activities to improve aiming with the ball
- enhancing hand-to-eye coordination which is essential in table tennis
- strength and flexibility exercises to prepare the child for table work
- body coordination exercises aimed at specific table tennis movements
- introduction to ball spin and rotation
- introduction to table work by basic exercises and ball control movements
Table Tennis has many well-known benefits for children. These include, but are not limited to, spatial awareness, psychomotor skills, concentration and reflexes, as well as strategy: from a very young age, table tennis helps develop a wide range of abilities.
