ATTK and CSSC Team Up for an Unforgettable Table Tennis Tournament

Alpha Table Tennis Klabb, in collaboration with the Civil Service Sports Club (CSSC), recently hosted an inspiring table tennis tournament that brought together members of the TT4Parkinsons and TT4Health groups. This special event celebrated both the competitive spirit and the sense of community fostered through table tennis at Alpha TTK.

CSSC Tournament Overview

The tournament kicked off with qualifying rounds held at Alpha TTK during the weekly training sessions in December 2024 and January 2025. These games set the stage for an exciting round of semi-finals and finals in each category. This was hosted at the CSSC headquarters in Valletta on Sunday 19th January 2025, within the historic Hostel de Verdelin—a venue that added a touch of grandeur to the occasion.

Results

Category A: TT4Parkinsons

The TT4Parkinsons category is only for persons diagnosed with Parkinson Disease. The group showcased remarkable resilience and determination, with each participant pushing hard to get that extra edge over their opponent.

  • Semi-Final #1: Ralph Accarino edged out Adrian Casha in a nail-biting 3-2 match.
  • Semi-Final #2: Anna Tabone recorded a clean 3-0 victory vs Frans Barbara.
  • Final: Anna Tabone continued her winning streak, claiming the title with an impressive 3-0 win against Ralph Accarino.

Category B: TT4Health

The TT4Health category highlighted the competitive edge and camaraderie of its participants.

  • Semi-Final #1: David Read delivered a flawless 3-0 performance against Joe Abela.
  • Semi-Final #2: Joe Vella overcame Victor Borg in a hard-fought 3-1 match.
  • Final: David Read secured the championship with a commanding 3-0 victory over Joe Vella.

A Memorable Closing

Following the matches, participants and spectators gathered for a delightful high tea, offering a chance to network, share experiences, and celebrate the achievements of all players.

The prize presentation was conducted by Dr. Joseph Borg, President of the CSSC, and Mr. Victor Hili, Treasurer of the CSSC, who commended the players for their dedication and sportsmanship. The Malta Table Tennis Association also played a vital role, generously providing the table for the finals in Valletta.
