Rachel Mifsud is Malta Champion in Under 21 Girls for the second consecutive season.
The Malta Junior National Table Tennis Championships were held between the 27th March to the 3rd April 2023. The Maltese Olympic Committee and the Malta Table Tennis Association hosted the events.
The road to Girls’ U21 Malta Champion
The Under 21 Girls’ competition started off with a group stage during which Rachel beat top-seed Anthea Cutajar with a 3-2 score. Both girls started off with a balanced performance and the match was at a 2-2 tie before the final deciding set. Rachel showed great determination and fought hard to win the match. She exploited her strengths to the maximum and finished off the match in first place in the group.
On to the knock out phase.
Rachel first met Kira Axiaq in her semi-final match and completed this with a straight 3-0 score.

In the final, it was once again a battle between the two girls Rachel and Anthea, who had also completed her semi-final with a win. Rachel was mentally and physically in top shape and this allowed her to execute her game impeccably. Final score 3-1 for Rachel. Therefore, confirming her place as the Under 21 Girls’ Malta Champion for the 2nd consecutive season.
Rachel trains at ALPHA TTK under the guidance of her coaches Katia Mifsud and Diego Jassan. She also assists with the training programs of the younger students at the club. Well done Rachel! Your hard work and passion for the sport of table tennis is commendable and an inspiration to all at the club.
